JOHN R. WERTZ | Managing Principal
John R. Wertz, the Founder and Managing Principal of Wertz Real Estate Investment Services, has been consistently recognized as one of the nation’s top real estate investment brokers. With 15 years under his belt in the industry, Mr. Wertz has closed over 175 net lease retail transactions throughout 27 states. Prior to forming Wertz Real Estate Investment Services, he was a top producing broker at a large international brokerage firm.
Throughout his career, Mr. Wertz has specialized in the acquisition and disposition of single tenant net leased properties across the United States. His advisory services include dispositions, portfolio management, 1031 exchange, and placing private capital into net leased investments. Mr. Wertz’s product specialization includes built-to-suit projects, sale leasebacks, and portfolio dispositions. He has cultivated long-term relationships with private investors, multi-tenant retail developers, preferred developers, tenants, institutions, and brokers nationwide.
Mr. Wertz graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2003, is a native of San Diego and a graduate of Point Loma High School. He now resides in Carlsbad, California with his wife Kristin, son JR, and daughter Kaila.
MICHAEL D. MULVIHILL | Associate Broker
Michael D. Mulvihill, Associate Broker at Wertz Real Estate Investment Services, specializes in the acquisition and disposition of retail properties in Southern California. Mr. Mulvihill generates new clients and advises them on portfolio management, 1031 exchanges, and sale leasebacks. He has cultivated specific relationships with various developers, brokers, and both international and local private investors.
Prior to Wertz Real Estate Investment Services, Mr. Mulvihill began his commercial real estate career in 2015 where he started as an analyst for Evans Senior Investments, a boutique brokerage firm specializing in the sale of senior living facilities in Boulder, Colorado. Next, Mr. Mulvihill went on to become a brokerage intern for Voit Commercial Real Estate Services. At Voit, he successfully created a marketing campaign to lease a retail property in San Diego, CA.
Mr. Mulvihill graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Certificate of Real Estate. He grew up in San Diego County and in his spare time he enjoys guitar, ukulele, tennis, snowboarding, skateboarding, and golf.
MAGGIE J. WERTZ | Director of Client Relations
Maggie J. Wertz, the Director of Client Relations of Wertz Real Estate Investment Services, has a diverse background spanning across multiple industries. After graduating from New York University in 2008 with degrees in both Journalism and Spanish, Ms. Wertz worked in the e-commerce industry for three years until deciding to pursue a design degree from Parsons School of Design. After graduating from Parsons, she worked in the fashion industry for five years until ultimately deciding to join forces with her brother, John R. Wertz and relocate to her hometown of San Diego.
As Director of Client Relations, Ms. Wertz focuses on new business development for the firm while maintaining account support for current clients. She specializes in national net-leased investment opportunities, and is responsible for specific client relations in both the private and institutional market. Ms. Wertz also serves as Director of Marketing for the firm.
